  Application Process

We want to make the process easy for you amd we ask that you review and follow the online instructions carefully. Most application components, including recommendations and application fee, can be submitted electronically. Please do not send application or financial documents by postage mail, which may delay application processing.

  Apply Online

Submit the following to complete your application:

An Olin application – forms, essays and a résumé submittedonline.

Academic transcripts – from all colleges or universities you’ve attended, including any graduate or professional course work. Transcripts should include all course work taken with corresponding grades and any transcript instructions/descriptions provided by the institution.

Submit by electronic upload into the online application (2 MB maximum) or email to apply@olin.wustl.edu. If you are unable to submit an unofficial copy, you may submit an official copy by mail.

We believe that this relatively open-ended requirement will allow you to more fully express your candidacy for our program.

If you are accepted for admission, you'll need to submit official transcripts and test scores. Request transcripts from each university or college you have attended. You must supply the original transcript even if the credit or grades are noted on another transcript. Enclose a self-addressed, postage-paid return envelope so the registrar can return the transcript to you.

  Interviews

Invitation-only interviews are conducted at the discretion of the Admissions Committee after the submission of a complete application.

  Eligibility

What does it take to be admitted to Olin's MACC Program?

We review each applicant on a number of factors, looking for individuals with strong academic, professional and extracurricular activities. We base our selections on your past performance, quantitative skills and communication skills. To ensure diversity in each entering class, we admit students with various backgrounds, experiences, talents and interests.

If you are applying from another college or university, you must have completed an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution (comparable to Washington University's four-year bachelor's degree) by the time you would begin the MACC program.

While there are no specific accounting course prerequisites for admission to the MACC program, most applicants will have completed Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting and perhaps other more advanced accounting courses prior to entering their MACC studies. Students who have not previously taken accounting course work would be required to come to Washington University in August to take preliminary course work prior to the start of the regular academic year. These preliminary courses are in addition to the 33 hours of graduate-level course work required for the MACC degree. Included in these preliminary courses are Accounting 560, Introduction to Financial Accounting and Accounting 562, Intermediate Financial Accounting.

All incoming students will be required to take a readiness exam for Intermediate Accounting prior to the Foundations course. If you’re a Washington University undergraduate student who is interested in pursuing a Master of Accounting degree, it is recommended that you contact the Specialized Masters Programs office prior to entering your junior year.

  CPA Exam

Upon completion of the MACC Program, you’ll have enough credits to sit for the Uniform CPA Examination in states with the “150-hour rule.”

You must take ownership of your CPA exam preparation. We encourage you to enroll in a course outside the University to fill any gaps in skills. We also recommend you consult with your advisor about specific requirements, since each state has different qualifications.
